Tracey Hurst Certified ISR Instructor / Owner Knowing the tremendous need for this type of program in the Annapolis area, I am thrilled to be part of such a dynamic and important organization, helping kids become aquatic problem-solvers. I have been blessed to be able to provide this life-saving program to more than 3,500 families throughout the state of Maryland & Arizona for more than 15 years now. I love working with children and am constantly in awe at their ability to save themselves in such an unforgiving environment. I cherish the relationships I have developed with the families over the years. I am happy to embrace the given nickname of being the "Swim Whisperer".
Isy Pedra Director of Administration / Water Safety Instructor It has been my mission for as long as I can remember to help make a difference. It is what has always drawn me to the medical field and the swimming industry. I started working at a pool at 16 and I'm currently a Nationally Certified Emergency Medical Technician and firefighter at a volunteer department. Growing up swimming and working in aquatics I witnessed how important water safety can be. After being introduced to ISR, I realized that being a part of this program would allow me to help prevent the second leading cause of death in children, while also doing something I love. I am honored to be a part of the process of keeping children safe and share my love of the water with future lifesavers!
Karen Zarchin Water Safety Instructor Teaching children the fundamentals of swimming has been a passion of mine for over thirty years as I have been teaching and coaching in Montgomery County, Anne Arundel County and Washington, DC. As a former summer swimmer in the Montgomery County Swim League (MCSL), I had the opportunity to begin coaching younger teammates by age of 15. In addition to my athletic career centered around the pool, I have stayed involved with teaching and coaching swimming, as well as other sports like Field Hockey at Saint Mary's. As the former swim team coach and the director of swim lessons at Crofton Swim and Tennis, I have been blessed to have the opportunity teach and I believe that the most effective way to help our young swimmers is through compassion first. It is vital that we meet our swimmers where they are and guide them in a caring way to feel success and safety in the water!
